Welcome to world breastfeeding week 2015!!
It comes at the tail end of many breastfeeding conferences that occurred around the world including the ILCA 2015 conference.
“This World Breastfeeding Week, WABA calls for concerted global action to support women to combine breastfeeding and work. Whether a woman is working in the formal, non-formal or home setting, it is necessary that she is empowered in claiming her and her baby’s right to breastfeed.”
In Ontario we have a Human Rights Commission that helps protect women from discrimination against pregnancy and breastfeeding. This gives information to employers as well for accommodations needed for the breastfeeding mother during her work day.
As your lactation consultant, I can help you transition to work and keep your breastfeeding relationship intact. Whether you return to work after 6 weeks, 6 months or 1 year, there is always a balance that can be struck to help you and your babe through this transition and protect the relationship that you both have worked so hard to establish!
